Let There Be a Blog January 2, 2007

In the beginning, when Bill Gates created computers, the internet was formless and desolate…

…Then he commanded, “Let there be a web log” - and it was done. He named the web log ‘blog’ and he was pleased with what he saw.

Family, friends, acquaintances, strangers, fiends, foes and fums (friends of my mum),

The future is here.

Two years of tertiary encouragement to invest my time and effort in creating and maintaining a web log has finally had an effect. It is a New Year’s resolution and a half, but one that is well overdue.

To tell you the truth, I am both excited and scared. Probably in much the same way 17 and 18 year old boys felt as they boarded war ships bound for WWII. Many greats have gone before me on this journey and most have not made it through. Perhaps I can use the analogy of the Kokoda Trail to illustrate my attitude towards blogging.

Expect the unexpected. Fear the unknown. Trust nobody. Don’t look forward to anything but your next step. Your next click.

Chin up. It’s not all bad news. The good thing about the Kokoda Trail though is that if you happen to make it through, you will look back on it in years to come and have no regrets but only fond memories. That is what I hope will come of this blog.

So, readers, are you willing to join me now on this adventure? (This is a rhetorical question)

Evening passed and morning came – that was the second day. And that is how the blog was created.
